It’s raining, oh wait it isn’t, okay, it is now.
The monsoon has begun, but the rains have not fully started. However, if getting drenched and dirty are your greatest worries, we have a few tips to keep you dry and spot-free this season!
1) Say ‘no’ to whites: Whites are pretty, whites are adorable but whites need to be stayed away from, this part of the year. Light coloured clothes should always be avoided in the monsoons, you don’t want to get wet and have your clothes reveal more than necessary.
2) Hair: Oil the roots of your hair with olive oil (it looks less oily) and wear a messy bun to work. Need to look more formal? Try a fishtail braid.
3) Keep a hand-towel handy: Always carry a hand-towel in your bag. Just in case it rains. Indian rains come with a hassle of muck too.
4) Quick-dry fabrics: If you’re trying to avoid the rains, prefer light fabrics. They will dry easily and save you a long bill from the doctor.
5) Footwear: Favour flip-flops this season. For an office look try sandals. Also, make sure you have that hand towel we spoke of, you’ll need it.
6) Make-up: Runny make-up surely does not look beautiful. Remember to switch to a waterproof variant of your favourite makeup before the rains hit the city.
7) Bag: Unless you want your belongings to swim in water, buy a water resistant bag. They might be a bit expensive, but are totally worth spending on.
8) Umbrella: Always remember to carry a foldable umbrella in your bag whether it is raining or not. Believe it or not, an umbrella saves you from the sun too!
9) Socks: If office requires you to wear shoes even in the monsoon, don’t forget to carry an extra pair of socks with you. The best advice we can give anyone this season! Wet socks are nasty!
10) Plastic bags/Zip-locks: Carry plastic bags or zip-locks with you to make sure your expensive gadgets don’t get killed in the rain.
11) Newspaper: Who would’ve thought inserting newspaper balls into wet shoes can do wonders? It does! For a faster dry, cover the shoes in newspaper too.
12) Rice: Did your phone fall into a puddle? Or did someone push you into the swimming pool while you had your phone on you? Worry not! Put your phone in a bag of rice overnight and see the magic.
Be prepared, not sorry.
