Fashion changes with every season. The monsoons now call for a change in your wardrobe. The tank tops, crop tops, spaghettis and hot pants need to be replaced with cardigans, jackets and trousers. Monsoons bring with it an inherent change in the colours and fabrics to be worn during the season. The uncertain rains and drab, gloomy weather does affect your mood to the extent of it invariably affecting your dressing style. The occasional monsoon spells can also evoke playful and colourful vibes. The choice in colours is important.
Here are a few tips for a rainy day!
Play with Pastels –
It’s essential to make the right choice in colours when buying clothes. This monsoon, experiment with vibrant and subtle colours. Pastels are always a winner. Teal, peach, blush pink, beige, indigo turquoise and sea green pretty much sum it up. Stay away from bright reds and shocking neon colours. Summer is over! (Neon coloured raincoats can be a good idea!)
Feel the Fabric –
Go for the fabrics which dry fast. You wouldn’t want to waste two days drying one piece of clothing. The use of cotton, mulmul and silk is appropriate as they don’t take too much time to dry. Avoid linen as it’s a very heavy fabric and can take days to dry. (Polyester cotton, gabardine and silicon washed fabrics are apt monsoon fabrics).
Elegant Ensembles –
Wise would be to sport lightweight shirts and dresses. A printed cotton knee length dress would look fantastic. Kurtis and tops are ideal for this season. Loose trousers and shirts can be worn during the day. Do not wear tight denims as they stick to your body and can give you a hard time while taking them off. Heavy dresses may cause irritation, so avoid wearing them too.
Stay stylish this season. And of course, avoid whites. Enjoy the rains, you are good to go!
